一次打電話給個年輕人，he didn't pick up，沒接上他。但要說的並非急事，可以等，於是也沒留言。對方稍後傳來文字信息﹕You find me? 直譯，應該就是「你搵我？」
 
但這是錯英文。錯的不是文法，而是字面意思。這錯，也許是純粹玩 chinglish；網上許多人會故意寫這類句子，像I no like lah（我不喜歡啦），I left lu...（我離開lu）。這個lu，中文確也不知怎麼寫。
 
文字，可以玩，但最好是已掌握了基本功夫才玩。就像習畫，不要初班都未學完，就塗鴉模擬畢加索。要擔心習慣成自然，從此講寫英文都是這副腔調，就真大件事了。
 
你找我？Were you looking for me? 要簡化，可以去掉頭兩個字，Looking for me? 又或Were you trying to find me? 可縮成Trying to find me?
 
Find，是已經找到，trying to find是嘗試找，且看當中分別。
 
日常生活，許多對答不經大腦，就會出錯。
 
問﹕When will we get the documents? 我們幾時拿得到文件？
 
答﹕They will be arrived tomorrow. 錯。該說They will arrive tomorrow. 它們會在明天抵達。
 
Arrive，永遠以主動形式出現。要表達文件將會「被抵達」，可改說﹕
 
They will be delivered （送遞） tomorrow.
 
另外一些常見錯誤﹕
 
Please be informed，這個好端端的，但說成please be noted，就古怪了。記得，寫please note（請留意）就好。
 
請別人填表，Please fill the form，不對，一定要加介詞﹕
 
Please fill in the form；而美式英語，就多講 Please fill out the form.

還有，說it would be wonderful if you could do this. 沒問題。
 
但，It would be grateful if you could do this. 就有問題了。
 
因為wonderful，是太陽底下的大圍形容，但grateful卻是個人感覺，不說it，要說I，或We﹕
 
I would be grateful... We would be grateful...
